UBER DRIVER SANCTIONED BY COURT IN GERMANY

Yesterday, the District Court of Frankfurt granted a motion for injunctive relief filed by a taxi driver against an Uber driver. The court ruled that an Uber driver requires a license for the transportation of passengers pursuant to the Transportation of Passengers Act (“Personenbeförderungsgesetz”).

If the driver continues driving for Uber, he would face a penalty fee of Euro 250,000 and traffic fines that may ultimately result in the loss of his driver’s license. This is part of a legal campaign initiated by the German taxi association against Uber that already had resulted in legal actions filed with the same court in Frankfurt, as we previously reported.
